I trained as a specialist craft teacher at Shoreditch Training College in the early 1960's and taught woodworking skills in Southampton Secondary Schools and Evening Institutes for nearly 30 years.
During this time I continued with my passion - producing furniture, mainly for family and friends - until 18 years ago when I realized my ambition of producing bespoke furniture and longcase clocks full-time.
In addition to private clients, I undertake all new clock cases for a local Antiquarian Horologist and a number of specialist clock makers.
All of my work is individually hand-made to each customer's requirements using mainly solid hardwoods and high quality brass fittings.
Clock Cases - principally longcase, but also various types of wall, bracket or mantle clocks are made using high quality new mechanical movements or fully restored and guaranteed antique ones. Each case is designed to be in sympathy with the style and age of the movement and at the same time complement the environment in which it will be displayed.
As all cases are custom made and the cost of each movement varies it is difficult to give firm prices. However, as a guide the price of longcase clocks range from £2500.00 to around �6000.00.
I also design and make smaller items of furniture to suit individual requirements in traditional or modern styles, each using the best cabinet making techniques and with the attention to detail associated with a hand-made piece.
